2017 Boettcher Foundation Scholarships

Andrew Kent, a senior at Jeffco Virtual Academy, was recognized as a distinguished Finalist for his impressive community service activities. Andrew works with the organization Love-Hope-Strength to sign people up for the national bone marrow registry in memory of Daniel, a young boy he met in 2011 while the two of them were being treated for leukemia. Andrew has solicited registry sign-ups at dozens of concerts, helping the organization to register more than 1,500 people - 35 who turned out to be matches for people needing bone marrow transplants.

United States of America Snowboard and Freestyle Association Nationals!

The Ladd brothers, Noah, Dylan and Connor, all qualified for USASA Nationals.   Dylan is also one of 4 junior men who represented the US at the half-pipe junior worlds in Switzerland in March.  

CU-Boulder Outstanding Student Award

A huge congratulations to Erin Malcolm!  JVA nominated Erin and she is a recipient of the CU-Boulder Outstanding Student Award!  The award recognizes students who have exceptional achievements both inside and outside of the classroom and characterize CU- Boulder's ideal student.  The award is a $4000 scholarship to attend CU-Boulder ($1000 per year for four years) should Erin choose to attend CU-Boulder.  Congratulations, Erin!

JVA's Timber Over is a competitive horse rider who recently won 4 circuit champions. She also earned the Level 1 Youth Overall High Point and the Youth 14-18 Overall High Point. She was awarded a $500 scholarship from Littleton Equine Medical Center for earning the most points.


Congratulations to Nathan Panzer who placed first in Junior Medical Science at the Denver Regional Science and Engineering Fair. Nathan also won Best in Show of the 2017 fair!   His project studied the effect of foreign substances on blood coagulation time.  

Junior United States Hockey League

On May 1st, the 2001 born players were selected for USHL.  The USHL is the only tier 1 junior league in the world, and around 92% of the players go on to play division 1 college hockey. Cal Sandquist was picked 3rd round, 36th overall by the Omaha Lancers, the third goalie taken in the draft, and one of only 160 players to be selected at all.  This is a huge step in his career!

State 5A Wrestling Champ!

Congratulations to one of your JVA classmates, Colton Yapoujian. He took the state title at the Pepsi Center in 5A wrestling over President's Day Weekend. Great job!
