Attendance Policy

JVA Attendance Expectations

Computer MouseAttendance is a major contributor to success in school and a critical component to life-long learning and career preparation. There will be work due in each class each week. Teachers will provide a suggested daily schedule for students to help students manage the work.

We follow Jeffco's truancy policy and Jeffco's district calendar with the exception of early release days.

Attendance for the week is taken on Thursday.
To be marked present students must either have a C or better in a class or must have turned in at least two assignments a week.

Campus Face-to-Face Days:

  • If you are a student in the TAG program, you are required to be on campus every Tuesday from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm.
  • If you are a full-time middle school student, you are required to be on campus each Wednesday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
  • If full-time high school students need help with their courses, teachers are on campus on Thursdays. Students can schedule appointments with teachers in English, social studies, math, and science from the JVA webpage. Full-time high school students are not required to attend campus days unless they are failing a class.

Online Attendance:

Teachers take attendance once a week on Thursday and enter present or absent for the previous five school days. We gauge attendance based on grades and actually turning in work in classes.  Student attendance is determined as follows:

  • If the student has a C in the class on Thursday, he or she will be marked present for the past five school days.
  • If the student has less than a C in the class on Thursday, but has turned in at least two assignments in the past five days, then he or she will be marked present for the past five school days.
  • If the student has less than a C AND has not submitted at least two assignments in the last five days, then he or she will be marked absent for the past five school days.
