LEAP Workshops

Adulting - please wait

LEAP workshops are offered to all high school students every Tuesday from 12:00-1:30 pm at JVA in partnership with Junior Achievement

Attend the LEAP workshop series being offered on Tuesday afternoons at JVA! Each workshop will last 1.5-2 hours and cover a skill or topic applicable to your life as an adult. After each workshop, you will also have the opportunity to produce a demonstration of your learning to earn additional hours. Every 20 hours earned through a combination of workshop attendance and demonstrations will be recorded as .25 elective credit on your transcript.

Join the LEAP course in Schoology to access workshop descriptions and sign up. Go to Courses in Schoology and click "My Courses" in the upper right. Click on "Join a Course" and enter BFFTK-5J7TX as the access code.

Students apply communication skills to resolve conflicts in work-based scenarios. Students will role-play conflicts and conflict management. They will explore behaviors that inflame conflict and behaviors that lead to a resolution.

Get Hired: Collaboration and Creativity

Students practice collaboration—a 4Cs skill—by using a team-building model referred to as the GRPI model (Goals, Roles and Responsibilities, Processes, and Interpersonal Relationship Skills). The model describes the behaviors found in high-performance teams in the workplace.

Get Hired: Strong Soft Skills

Students will review soft skills that are in demand by employers and rate their own soft skills. They will use personal stories in a job-interview workshop to communicate these skills to a potential employer.
